ah so this whole zizek cartoon lecture is about how an individual can't change the world by herself so even though charity has been co-opted by capitalism and doesn't really help or change anything, it's not really so bad and so on and so on...

It's really a great invention and I wouldn't under-estimate the values and principles of a free and open society. It's their work that I'm supporting. So it's not me doing it because I can afford to do it, and I believe in it. It's their work that I'm supporting. Markets are constantly in a state of uncertainty and flux and money is made by discounting the obvious and betting on the unexpected. It's their work that I'm supporting. Markets are designed to allow individuals to look after social needs. But I can empower them. I can support them, and I can help them. It's their work that I'm supporting. I'm not doing my philanthropic work, out of any kind of guilt, or any need to create good public relations. Markets are constantly in a state of uncertainty and flux.
